Junior Instructional Designer
The Junior Instructional Designer will provide instructional design expertise and support to projects as well as consultations with faculty and staff. This position will assist the Instructional Design team in implementing and maintaining technology and instructional strategies to benefit academic programs and their courses. This position will be responsible for working collaboratively with faculty to build or enhance course content and support existing technology in various programs across the university.
The Junior Instructional Designer will also be responsible for assisting with the support of current programs and assisting faculty with educational technology matters as they arise. Responsibilities include all forms of electronically supported synchronous and asynchronous instruction including courses that are entirely online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced, Web-based learning, virtual interactive education, audio, video, Smartboards, lecture tools, collaboration tools, assessment tools and digital asset management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include some or all of the following:
- Provides sound instructional design across the University in a variety of settings.
- Engages in discussions and promotes new ideas/perspectives, with an eye toward holistic, sustainable, scalable solutions and student outcomes/experience.
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to ensure the timely, high quality course and content delivery.
- Partners with faculty to provide consultation, training, guidance, and/or support in emerging and existing programs.
- Collaborates on graphics, interactions, learning objects in conjunction with course/program objectives and faculty vision.
- Coordinate with 3rd party vendors as needed for program success
- Deliver faculty and student training programs including synchronous training (f2f and web-based), online self-paced training, collateral training materials, and individual consultations.
- Develops and maintains the support materials for faculty and students including digital & print instructional resources, such as the training calendar, tutorials, and relevant links.
- Provides support for all online learning and instructional technology products and services.
- Manages the LMS through the creation and copying of courses, adding course content, ensuring LMS compatibility, and maintaining users, profiles, permissions, and layouts.

Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Technology, Web Development or other related degree with at least 2 years related classroom and instructional technology experience working in a higher education setting.
Technical skills
- Experience with Windows, Mac OS
- MS Office Suite (2010 +) & Zoom
- Familiarity with Active Directory and LDAP
- Familiarity with HTML, HTML editors and JavaScript.
- Knowledge of graphic design software.
- Excellent communication (written and oral), customer service and problem solving skills via face to face, telephone, email, and fax.
- Knowledge of social media tools and effective uses in teaching and learning.
- Knowledge of audio, video and video conferencing.
- Knowledge of multiple media to incorporate into classroom or LMS.
- Knowledge of information security and intellectual property.
- Knowledge of Student Information Systems (preferred)
- Knowledge of technical system integration (preferred)
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to assess, triage and/or resolve technical issues
Language Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple and more complex instructions (both written and oral), short correspondence and memos. Ability to write correspondence.
