ESL Teacher Aide
The ESL Teacher Aide integrates relevant teaching practices in grammar, writing, listening-speaking, and reading in an inclusive environment that develops students' language as well as the cultural awareness that they will need to thrive. The District ESL Aide – English as a Second Language position is employed to assist a teacher or teachers in teacher supervised instructional and non-instructional tasks working with students in classrooms.
The person occupying the position reports directly to his/her assigned teacher. This is a non-tenured position and is subject to annual review. The District ESL Aide is responsible for the efficient performance of assigned activities, including those described below.
Part-time 5 ½ hours per day, five days per week. Not to exceed 30 hours per week. Hourly position during the academic school year. Mostly indoors in a classroom setting. Occasionally work in an outdoor recess or gym class setting. Physical requirements include bending and stooping.

- Current Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances;
Mandated Reporter training; as well as any other district required trainings
High school diploma is a preferred requirement or GED. Good communication skills and be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff. Should be flexible in adapting to student needs and various teaching styles.
In conducting this role, the essential duties of the District ESL Aide for English as a Second Language position shall include, but are not limited to the following:
Help maintain a positive and orderly learning environment by managing student behavior and reinforcing classroom rules.
Assist the teacher with delivering lessons, working with small groups or individual students, and providing additional help where needed.
Help prepare instructional materials, such as worksheets, presentations, and classroom displays.
Monitor students during activities, such as recess, lunch, or field trips, and provide supervision in the classroom.
Perform administrative duties such as grading assignments, taking attendance, and organizing student records.
Provide additional support to students with special needs, including implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and offering one-on-one assistance as applicable.
Assist with setting up the classroom, arranging furniture, and organizing supplies and resources.
Foster a positive learning environment by encouraging student participation and engagement in activities.
