Social Studies Honor Society Advisor

The Social Studies Honor Society Advisor connects MNHS to a national network of students and educators with a shared interest in social studies while planning and directing activities that cultivate a strong, engaged chapter community.

Experience working with school age students in social studies and coordinating and managing events. - Skills

Strong command of social studies curriculum and exceptional managerial, organizational, and communication skills. - Education
:
Valid PA teaching certificate.
- Guide student leadership and mentorship, supporting student officers in planning meetings, setting goals, and developing leadership skills while fostering student ownership of responsibilities.
- Oversee membership selection and accountability, including facilitating the selection process, and addressing discipline or dismissal when members do not meet chapter requirements.
- Manage chapter operations, maintaining accurate records of members, chapter history, and finances (if applicable).
- Plan and coordinate chapter social studies‑related activities, including the annual induction ceremony, community service projects, and initiatives that promote chapter visibility and engagement.
- Serve as liaison and ensure compliance, communicating with administration, clearing projects with the principal, and maintaining adherence to Social Studies Honor Society standards.
- Has read and understands obligations as outlined in MNSD School Board Policies.
- Other duties as assigned by Administration.

September – June; after school, throughout the school year

Clearances
:
In accordance with the school code, Act 24 and all related clearances.
- MNSD Supplementary Contract Unit Values
- 1-2 years experience – $438.00
- 3, 4, 5 years experience – $475.00
- 6 years & over experience – $510.00
