Position Summary:
This position will provide college awareness and preparation services for middle and high school students in the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) cohort in order to meet the requirements of the GEAR UP program. The GEAR UP program is funded by a U.S. Department of Education grant and provides services and resources to a cohort of students with the goal of increasing high school graduation and college awareness, acceptance, and readiness.
Duties & Responsibilities:
This position may be assigned any of the following activities, duties, or responsibilities as assigned by the GEAR UP Project Director. This list is not a comprehensive listing and may change at any time with or without notice.
Coordination and Collaboration Increase college awareness and readiness by facilitating or delivering GEAR UP activities including counseling, mentoring, tutoring, remediation, enrichment, summer programs, college visits, industry visits, job shadowing, and financial literacy workshops
Coordinate coaching, counseling, mentoring, and tutoring activities at participating schools
Collaborate with teachers to plan, prepare and deliver mentoring and tutoring services
Collaborate and coordinate with district personnel, school staff, and GEAR UP partners to provide services and resources to participating cohort students
Direct Student Services Provide direct academic instruction and guidance according to students' needs, abilities, and achievements
Provide a variety of academic materials and resources
Ensure high standards of professional practice and quality of teaching and learning of subjects while maintaining high flexibility
Assess, record and report on students' development, progress, goal attainment and behavior
Encourage and monitor the progress of students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
Communicate necessary information regularly to students and school staff regarding students' progress and needs
Provide counseling and case management services for students and families
Conduct after school program activities at TLC's Leadership Academy Data Collection and Tracking Collaborate with GEAR UP Project Director to track all student-level activities
Maintain accurate documentation of service objectives and outcomes as well as other services in accordance with GEAR UP guidelines
Meetings and Conferences Attend required meetings, training/education, including GEAR UP conferences as requested

Detail-oriented
Education and Experience:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree or related experience preferred but not required.
Experience working with underserviced communities is required.
Experience working with Special Education population is desired.
Experience working with immigrant and English Language Learner (ELL) populations is desired.

Work Hours:
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, 10-month position for duration of grant period
Work Environment:
Middle school and/or High school setting
Travel:
Travel to designated school sites in the School District and community. Some out-of-region travel to conferences.
