Fairview School District, located in northwestern Pennsylvania, serves students in grades K–12 across its elementary, middle, and high school. The district is committed to providing equitable, high-quality education with a strong focus on academic achievement, student well-being, and inclusive practices for all learners. Fairview prioritizes support for underrepresented student populations, including those experiencing economic disadvantage, students with disabilities, and those in need of additional academic and social-emotional interventions.

Through a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), the district works to address learning gaps, improve attendance, and foster a positive school climate. As an Ameri Corps host site, members have the opportunity to serve in the elementary, middle, and high school settings. Members will support targeted literacy and math interventions, provide mentoring, and assist with initiatives that strengthen student engagement and connectedness.

This role offers meaningful, hands-on experience in education while making a direct impact on student success.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday - Full Time Daytime Hours (occasional evening / weekend hours)

Ameri Corps Responsibilities: (in addition to host site service)

  • Plan and implement service-learning projects for students at host sites or in communities
  • Attend monthly member meetings
  • Complete virtual training to amplify service abilities
  • Participate in National Service Days and planned events
  • Create a service portfolio and track and report service outcomes
  • Serve as an ambassador in your neighborhood and community
  • Participate in a virtual pre-service training prior to serving at assigned host site

Monthly Pretax Living Allowance:

1700 Hour Term - $2,600.00 (48 weeks)

Term Education Award:

1,700 Hour Term: $7,395.00

  • Additionally, federal loan forbearance (pause in loan payments) while serving in Ameri Corps
  • Accrued interest while serving as an Ameri Corps member paid by Ameri Corps program
  • Education Award earned when program is successfully completed

All members must participate in a three-day pre-service training which may be virtual or in-person.

Ameri Corps is a national service program in which during membership members also agree to participate in Ameri Corps activities in addition to host site placement responsibilities.

Activities are concentrated in the following areas:

  • School Readiness & Success
  • Mentoring Youth through Service
  • Academic support service
  • Community Strengthening through Outreach Events and Special Projects
  • STEM/STEAM/STREAM activities and service learning
  • Host sites may have additional areas of focus to be discussed at host site interview.
