Job GoalTo establish and maintain a safe, clean, pleasant, and efficient atmosphere in the school cafeteria and at recess.
Essential Functions- Monitors students during assigned mealtimes in the cafeteria and recess; arrives promptly and ensures students return to their next activity safely and on time.
- Observes students’ verbal and physical actions to maintain a safe, orderly environment; patrols assigned areas according to established procedures and training.
- Enforces school health, safety, and conduct rules; assists students who need help opening milk cartons and food packages.
- Monitors and maintains a reasonable noise level; ensures student behavior toward staff and other students is appropriate; uses positive reinforcement strategies.
- Organizes students into orderly lines at the beginning of each meal period for purchasing, directs them to assigned tables, and encourages completion of meals within the allotted period.
- At the end of each meal period, supervises orderly disposal of food waste, return of trays, and dismissal from the lunchroom to attend class; ensures orderly exit of the cafeteria.
- Resolves minor conflicts between students using fair but firm strategies; reports more serious incidents to the principal, counselor, or designated teacher.
- Communicates calmly, neutrally, and non‑confrontationally; models non‑discriminatory practices; actively participates in the School wide Positive Support Plan.
- Follows procedures for proper hand washing and glove usage; maintains clean conditions, wipes tables, and sanitizes seating for students with allergies; cleans floors of spills and debris when the custodian is absent.
- During recess, organizes and directs activities; ensures safe use of playground equipment and promotes positive student behaviors and sportsmanship.
- Reads, stays current on, and complies with school rules for students and employees; complies with IEP or Section 504 provisions when working with students with disabilities; interacts courteously with administration, staff, and students.
High School diploma required.
Note:
All employment is considered provisional for up to 90 days in accordance with Act 168 of 2014, pending receipt of required employment history reviews. Final employment is contingent upon satisfactory review of all required clearances and background checks.
