Assistant Director - Career Education & Student Initiatives (Part-Time)
This part-time position is expected to work three days per week on-campus to support the O'Donnell Center for Professional Development within the Villanova School of Business, for a total of approximately 18–21 hours a week. Flexible scheduling and hybrid work arrangements may be considered based on Center needs and will be discussed during the interview process. Because of the value we place on the servicing our students, our strong preference is for applicants who can commit to regular on-campus hours at Villanova University.

Serve as a key member of VSB's O'Donnell Center for Professional Development and Undergraduate Programs team, reporting to the Director of Career Education & Student Initiatives. Advance the Center's strategic priorities in career education, student leadership development, and employer engagement. Lead initiatives that strengthen the professional readiness of business students through innovative programming, high-impact co-curricular experiences, and meaningful partnerships with alumni and corporate sponsors.
Cultivate and support a dynamic ecosystem of student business societies, positioning them as critical engagement channels between students and industry. As an integral contributor to the O'Donnell Center team, this individual helps shape professional development strategy, expand employer partnerships, and enhance the delivery of a comprehensive professional development curriculum.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Career Education Strategy & Program Leadership:
Design and deliver high-impact educational initiatives that equip business students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to navigate academic and career pathways. Develop programming focused on career exploration, industry insight, professional competencies, and decision-making related to majors/minors and career direction. Collaborate with VSB/VU campus partners and business society leaders to align programming with institutional priorities and evolving employer needs. Leverage multiple formats to maximize student engagement and accessibility.
Many of the Career Education events are held in the evenings.
Student Leadership & Business Society Development:
Work with Director to serve as a strategic advisor to the VSB Council of Presidents (CoPs) as a means of fostering collaboration across 30+ student business societies. Assume responsibility for a portfolio of business societies; coach student leaders and faculty advisors in developing and executing vision/goals; co-plan career education programs. Guide allocation and strategic use of the Deloitte Student Group Fund to enhance student learning, experiential learning, and industry engagement.
Serve as a connector between corporate sponsors/employers/alumni and society leaders. Liaise with the Office of Student Involvement; coordinate business societies' adherence to University student group policies and procedures. Provide career advising to individual students.
External Relations/Corporate Sponsorship Program:
Partner with the Director to strengthen alumni and employer engagement in support of VSB's professional development strategy. Lead implementation of the O'Donnell Center Annual Corporate Sponsorship Program, ensuring sponsors experience meaningful engagement aligned with student needs. Cultivate high-visibility employer engagement opportunities (e.g., Bartley Takeovers) and steward sponsorship resources to advance student-facing initiatives and programming impact.
Professional Development Curriculum:
Assist with the execution of Backpack-to-Briefcase Professional Development curriculum and Summer Business Institute Professional Success course. Support curriculum design, experiential components, and classroom engagement to ensure relevance, rigor, and alignment with employer expectations.
Marketing and Communication:
Assist in the coordination of O'Donnell Center student communication efforts, promotional materials for professional development initiatives and career education programs, including contributions to the "Buzz Around Bartley" weekly calendar of events, and the Clay Center/O'Donnell Center social media accounts.
