Part Time - STEM - Summer Camp Instructor

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State Abington seeks to hire part-time Youth Program instructors for grades K-12 from June 2027 through August 2027
. Topics to be taught include STEM programming, arts, writing, leadership and soft skills, wellness, and others.

• Assist with creating and implementing program curriculum and lessons, managing supplies, and supervising minors participating in programs.
• Work collaboratively with the Youth Program Director, Student Counselors, and Continuing Education staff to create an inviting, enjoyable, and educational environment for students.
• Attend team meetings as expected by the Youth Program Director.

• Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Outgoing, work well with children, strong customer service skills, and a self-starter.
• Advanced degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution (required).
• Prior teaching experience is strongly preferred.
• Summer instructors needed for daytime in-person programming from Monday through Thursday,
  June 28 through August 12 2027, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Includes a one-day in-person staff orientation at Penn State Abington, scheduled between June 21st and June 25th
  , prior to the start of the camp sessions.

• Attendance at a mandatory staff orientation prior to the camp season is required.

Scope of youth programs is dependent on course content and varies in length. Multiple vacancies are available for various programs. Employment is contingent upon adequate student enrollment in the Youth Programs.

The position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks:

• PA State Police Criminal Background Check
• PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form
• Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check
