About the RoleWe are seeking a passionate and dynamic Biology/General Science Instructor who is eager to bring science to life for high school students. Candidates with General Science, Chemistry and/or Physics certifications are encouraged to apply - we want to see your resume if you have one of these certifications or even a combination of all three!
In this role, you will engage students through hands-on learning, inquiry-based instruction, and real-world applications of science, helping them build curiosity, confidence, and critical thinking skills. You’ll teach both chemistry and physics while creating a classroom environment that inspires exploration and academic growth.
What You’ll Do- Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in Biology and General Science
- Design and lead safe, hands-on laboratory experiments
- Foster a classroom culture that encourages curiosity and critical thinking
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners
- Evaluate student progress and provide meaningful, timely feedback
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and interdisciplinary connections
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff
- Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and professional development
- Support extracurricular opportunities such as science clubs or competitions (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Valid PA 7–12 certification in Biology and General Science (or ability to obtain)
- Strong subject matter expertise in both disciplines
- High school teaching experience preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Experience with inquiry-based and project-based learning strategies
- Knowledge of lab safety procedures and modern scientific equipment
- Ability to effectively integrate technology into instruction
- Ability to perform standard classroom activities such as standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Ability to meet the physical and emotional needs of supporting diverse learners
- Starting Salary: $59,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)
