The Tuscarora Intermediate Unit invites applicants for a Full or Part-time Adult Instructor.

Are you passionate about helping adults and families achieve their educational and career goals? Our Adult Education and Family Literacy Program is seeking a dedicate d Instructor to join our team serving learners.

This rewarding position provides instruction to adults and families working toward improving literacy skills, earning a high school equivalency credential, strengthening English language skills, preparing for employment, and supporting family learning. Instruction is provided in community-based locations throughout Mifflin and Juniata Counties, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact with diverse populations. The Instructor for the TIU Community Education & Workforce Services shall be directly responsible to the CEWS Director and/or assigned staff for supervision and evaluation.
Fundamental Duties/Essential Functions
1. Provide instruction and/or assistance in programs and activities operated by the TIU Community Education & Workforce Services.
2. Provide instruction in a variety of subject areas as needed at the life skill, employment preparation, Career Pathways, adult basic education, and General Educational Development levels for adults transitioning to post-secondary education and employment and youth.
3. Prepare instructional curriculum based on scientific, evidence based research.
4. Assemble material to be presented.
5. Plan, prepare, and develop various teaching aids and classroom presentations to meet individual needs and abilities.
6. Assist students individually and in groups.
7. Instruct participants individually and in small groups using a variety of methods including explicit, contextualized, and computer-aided instruction.
8. Maintain student attendance and confidential records.
9. Provide clients with referrals and case management as needed.
10. Work with students to prepare and follow up individual Career Pathways plans.
11. Provide services in office, home, and other settings as assigned.
12. Conduct intakes and assessments of students.
13. Collaborate for integration of instruction with workforce development and other available services.
14. Participate in program improvement activities.
15. Gather and analyze data for decision making.
16. Lift, move, carry and otherwise transport supplies and office equipment within office and to external locations.
17. Perform other duties as assigned by the director and/or assigned supervisory staff.
18. Recruit, match, and monitor classroom aides.

11. Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual needs of student.
12. Ability to apply concepts and information acquired from meetings, conferences, or related literature to accomplish project goals.
13. Ability to provide personal, reliable vehicle for travel requirements.

Qualification Standards
1.

Education:

possess a bachelor's degree from a college or university. Teacher certification preferred.
2.

Experience:

experience and understanding in dealing with the special needs of adult learners.
