Personal Care Aide

About this positionPersonal Care Aides will work with students in the Shade‑Central City School District to support their daily living activities, mobility, and educational participation.

- Assist students with personal hygiene tasks, including toileting, grooming, and dressing.
- Support students in mobility and transferring as needed.
- Assist students with physical disabilities in moving around school facilities.
- Offer emotional support and encouragement to students facing challenges.
- Follow individualized care plans developed with teachers, school nurses, and healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to facilitate students’ participation in classroom activities and use instructional materials and adaptive equipment.
- Maintain open communication with teachers, parents, and staff regarding students’ progress and concerns.
- Attend meetings with the educational team to discuss and update care plans.
- Encourage students to develop independence in daily activities whenever possible.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- High school diploma is the minimum education requirement.
- Willingness to complete required clearances and training (mandated reporter, physical, TB test).
- Physical stamina to sit, stand, walk, bend, and rest for long periods during an eight‑hour day.
- Previous experience with individuals who have special needs or disabilities is preferred.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting students with diverse needs.
- Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively, and adapt to changing situations.
- Understanding of confidentiality and privacy requirements related to student information.
$15.39 – $15.39 per hour
