Middle School Science and Social Studies Teacher Assistant

We are looking for two teacher assistants who want to make an impact. You're right for this role if you believe that all students can succeed, you're hungry to grow in your practice, and you thrive in a highly collaborative, innovative, joyful environment focused on changing kids' lives for the better. One teacher assistant will support students in middle school science and the other will support students in middle school social studies.

The skills our middle school teacher assistants need are:

• be open to feedback and drive to improve.
• convey their passion for students' growth academically and socially and emotionally.
• obtain a substitute teaching license
• enjoy supporting students during lunch and recess as a time to build connections and bring joy into their day.
• believe that stepping in to cover classes provides them with valuable learning opportunities.
• be passionate about supporting students' learning and organizational skills.

The skills our middle school teacher assistants need are:

• a passion for working with early adolescents (working in middle school is like the Navy SEALS: "many are called, but few are chosen".
• ready to assist students and teachers in terms of facilitating lessons in science and social studies.
• building strong relationships with students and families
• supporting students and teachers in terms of meeting the needs of individualized education plans and 504s.
• flexibility.

• A preliminary phone or Zoom interview
• A whole-day visit to LCCS to teach a demo lesson, observe lessons, and meet colleagues. We want you to know if we are the right fit for you just as much as we need to know that about you.
