Terms Of Employment:
Long Term Substitute position for the  school year. 10 month full-time, salary in accordance with the PEA Collective Bargaining Agreement FLSA Exempt.

Description:

Pennridge is looking for an energetic teacher for our full day kindergarten program. Teacher will need experience with primary reading and math skills, purposeful play and behavior management

Principal Function:
The teacher is the member of the school system with the greatest interaction with children. It is the teacher who bears the primary responsibility for providing a nurturing and engaging learning environment that promotes the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of young students. The teacher is responsible for designing and implementing age-appropriate educational activities, fostering social skills, and ensuring their overall well-being in the classroom setting.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Establish a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom where children feel comfortable to explore, interact, and learn.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that focus on key areas like language development, math, social skills, and emotional development.
  • Foster social skills, emotional regulation, and positive interactions among students. Help children learn to resolve conflicts, share, and work in groups.
  • Monitor and assess children's academic and social progress regularly, providing feedback to both parents and students.
  • Establish clear expectations for behavior, using positive reinforcement and consistent routines to maintain order and discipline.
  • Keep parents informed about their child's progress, behavior, and development.
  • Work with other teachers, administrators, and staff to share strategies and resources for effective teaching and to support the overall development of students.
  • Properly refer to the MTSS process those children experiencing unusual difficulties.
  • Effectively implement IEP's and the 504 plan of identified children using the resources that are provided.
  • Maintain a plan book as directed by the principal and submit plan book for review upon request. Have daily plans readily available for the use of a substitute in the event of absence.
  • Provide immediate care and protect injured students until the services of nurse or other medical personnel are available. Follow building's safety-emergency management plan.
  • Perform additional duties such as lunchroom, bus, or recess as required.
  • Maintain and extend professional knowledge and skills through activities such as graduate study, participation in staff development, professional reading and other appropriate activities as defined in the District's Act 48 Plan.
  • Support school programs and maintain a high standard of ethical professional conduct when dealing with associates, parents and other members of the community.
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
  • Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree;
    • Valid Pennsylvania Teacher Certification
      - Elementary

    Pre-Employment Requirements:

    • PA State Police Clearance (Act 34) – Dated within one year
    • Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151) – Dated within one year
    • FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114) – Dated within one year
    • School Personnel Health Form (Physical and TB test)
    • PDE 6004 Form (Act 24)
    • Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release Form(s) (Act 168)

    The incumbent should be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

    Medium Work:
    The incumbent should be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

    Heavy Work:
    The incumbent should be able to exert up to 75 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

    Very Heavy Work:
    The incumbent should be able to exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently, and in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
