Special Education Teacher

Oxford Area High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This full-time position requires a commitment to supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth, collaborating with educators, and engaging with families to ensure that all students can thrive.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with learning differences.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in both one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting interventions as necessary to ensure academic success.
  • Facilitate communication between students, parents, and school staff to foster a supportive educational environment.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and share insights on effective teaching strategies.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Stay current with best practices in special education and learning support through professional development and training opportunities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of school-wide initiatives aimed at promoting inclusivity and support for all students.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education.
    • Valid PA teaching certification in Special Education.
    • Experience working with high school students, preferably in a Special Education role.
    • Strong understanding of various learning disabilities and effective instructional strategies to address them.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families.
    • Ability to create a nurturing and structured learning environment.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
    • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about current trends in education and Special Education.
