Long-Term Substitute Social Studies Teacher

Bensalem Township School District is seeking qualified applicants for a long-term substitute social studies teacher position at Bensalem High School. This long-term substitute assignment will begin at the start of the 2026–2027 school year and continue through the end of January 2027. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction and creating a positive learning environment that supports students in reaching their full intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological potential.

• Valid Pennsylvania social studies teaching certificate required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of social studies curriculum and content.
• Strong classroom and student behavior management skills.
• Excellent human relations and communication skills.
• Effective instructional planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to utilize instructional materials, educational technology, and classroom equipment.
• Knowledge of child and adolescent growth and development.
• Strong instructional and assessment practices.
• Knowledge and appreciation for the origins and nature of high levels of intelligence, including creative expressions of intelligence and the ways intelligence is demonstrated across different domains and among diverse learners.
• Knowledge and understanding of the cognitive, social, and emotional characteristics, needs, and potential challenges experienced by gifted learners from diverse populations.
• Knowledge of advanced curriculum, differentiated instruction, and instructional strategies designed to meet the needs of gifted learners.

Applicants must hold a valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in social studies.
