Social Studies Teacher

Oxford Area High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Social Studies Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore historical events, understand cultural contexts, and engage critically with social issues. This full-time position requires a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and growth.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and promote critical thinking.
• Teach a variety of social studies subjects, including history, geography, civics, and economics, to students in grades 9-12.
• Assess student progress through a variety of methods, including tests, projects, and presentations, providing constructive feedback to support student learning.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and encourages respect, collaboration, and open dialogue among students.
• Incorporate technology and multimedia resources into lessons to enhance student engagement and understanding.
• Collaborate with fellow educators to develop interdisciplinary projects and initiatives that enrich the curriculum.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and social studies content.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events.
• Contribute to the school community through participation in extracurricular activities, committees, and events.
• Uphold the values and mission of Oxford Area High School, promoting a culture of excellence and inclusivity.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Studies, History.
• Valid PA teaching certification in Social Studies for grades 9-12.
• Strong knowledge of social studies content, pedagogy, and state educational standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
• Experience in lesson planning, classroom management, and assessment strategies.
• Proficiency in using educational technology and digital resources for teaching and learning.
• A commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse classroom environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
• Previous teaching experience is preferred but not required.
• Passion for teaching and a desire to make a positive impact on students' lives.
