Guidance Counselor Position
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Guidance Counselor to join our team at Oxford Area High School. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that empowers students to achieve their academic, personal, and social goals. This full-time position requires a proactive individual who can effectively collaborate with students, parents, faculty, and community resources to promote student well-being and success.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students on academic, career, and personal/social issues.
- Develop and implement comprehensive guidance programs that address the needs of all students.
- Assist students in course selection, college applications, and career exploration.
- Conduct assessments and interpret results to provide insights into student needs and strengths.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student development and address behavioral concerns.
- Organize and facilitate workshops, seminars, and events related to college readiness and life skills.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with school policies and legal requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between students and external support services, including mental health resources.
- Monitor student progress and provide interventions as needed to ensure academic success.
- Stay current with educational trends, policies, and best practices in school counseling.
- Bachelor's degree
- Valid PK-12 Pennsylvania School Counselor Certification.
- Previous experience in a school counseling role preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and families.
- Knowledge of college admissions processes, career development, and adolescent development.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the school environment.
- Proficiency in using technology for counseling and record-keeping purposes.
