Position Requirements

Penn State Extension is seeking applicants for part-time job of Youth Forestry & Natural Resources Intern. Job duties to include:
Assist with interactive environmental education games and activities for K-6 students in McKean County. Support program set-up, implementation, and clean-up at educational events and programs. Participate in occasional meetings with the program leader/educator to interpret scientific literature and help develop, test, and refine educational games and activities.

Requirements, Qualifications, and/or Competencies
  • Interest in and passion for nature, with a desire to share that enthusiasm with children.
  • Basic understanding of science and environmental literacy concepts.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Availability during school-day hours, when most events take place.
Schedule and Compensation
  • Schedule:

    8 weeks at 8-10 hours per week.
  • Compensation:
    The starting rate for this job is $15.00/hour.
Background Checks / Clearances

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
