POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Lehigh Valley invites applications for a teaching‑line faculty member at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Biology. This is a non‑tenure‑line, limited‑term, 36‑week appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with possibility of re‑appointment.

Responsibilities for the position will include but not be limited to:
Teach twelve contact hours per semester, which includes teaching anatomy and physiology (lectures and laboratories) as part of the dual‑enrollment Emerging Health Professionals (EHP) program. Additional teaching duties could include general biology lectures and labs, core biology courses, microbiology lectures and labs, and/or upper‑level courses in the candidate’s field of study. Commitment to high‑quality instruction in a student‑centered environment is expected.

Teaching assignments may require teaching day, evening, night and/or weekend classes as needed. Academic advising of students. Participate in campus, college, university, and professional service activities.

Applicants should have earned a master’s degree in biology or other closely related field at a minimum to be considered for the rank of Lecturer or a Ph.D. in biology (preferred) or closely related field to be considered for the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. Prior college‑level teaching experience required. Experience working with undergraduates is preferred. Interest in active and collaborative learning is an advantage.

Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.
