This position is contingent upon grant funding and is reviewed annually for continuation and is strictly contingent upon the receipt of necessary funding sources and contractual agreements.

Summary

The Pre-Apprenticeship, Apprenticeship & Internship Navigator is responsible for developing work-based learning experiences for LCCC students in Career and Technical (CTE) education programs (i.e. Computer Science, HVAC, Technology, Education, Healthcare, Business). Duties include identifying registered and non-registered apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeships, internships or externships where students can gain real-world experience and develop skills that align to employer and local workforce needs. The Navigator develops and builds connections in the community with employers/companies to create work-based learning opportunities for students and enhance their employment prospects upon completion.

The Navigator also processes student applications and employer documentation including required monthly data reports and annual summary. This position also conducts information sessions for students to learn about work-based learning opportunities, and works collaboratively with College Relations to design marketing and advertising materials for the recruitment of students and employers. This position is embedded in the Career Development Center and reports directly to the Director of Career Development and Civic Engagement.

This position is contingent upon the availability of Perkins grant funding.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify registered and non-registered apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship opportunities for CTE students in alignment with employers’ and local workforce needs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to local companies and workforce development organizations to secure pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship and internship programming for CTE students.
  • Support industry engagement to expand work-based learning opportunities for CTE students and ensure CTE programs align with current labor market trends and employer expectations.
  • Partner with deans, CTE program faculty, and program coordinators to embed career development, work-based learning opportunities, and industry-informed competencies into CTE program curriculum.
  • Collaborate closely with CTE programs to align hands-on learning opportunities with technical training objectives and industry certifications.
  • Support academic departments in identifying and implementing work-based learning strategies, including industry projects, internships, and job shadowing into CTE programs.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with employers, industry associations, and community organizations to create pipelines for CTE student employment and work-based learning.
  • Conduct employer site visits to identify career opportunities, assess workforce needs, and promote college apprenticeship and career development programs.
  • Coordinate employer involvement in classroom experiences, advisory boards, and curriculum development to enhance CTE programs and student outcomes.
  • Complete documentation to apply for apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeships, and internships by working with CTE faculty and program coordinators to obtain pertinent information.
  • Facilitate the placement process for apprenticeships and internships, ensuring CTE students are matched with relevant, high-quality opportunities.
