Job Description
Ensure the safe and efficient shift operation of the preparation plant and its related facilities. Maintain efficient operation of the plant and equipment focusing safety, productivity, efficiency, and cost. Ensure quality product and workmanship, accident and violation prevention, and environmental control.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the safe, continuous, efficient operation of the preparation plant and associated facilities on-shift.
2. Ensure safe and efficient performance of assigned maintenance and operations workforce
3. Ensure compliance with UMWA contract for area of responsibility.
4. Carry out the requirements of Cumberland's safety program.
5. Maintain operating costs within the constraints of the budget.
6. Responsible for detailed verbal and written communication with workforce, supervisors and cross shift supervisor.
7. Develop and maintain union / management relations as they relate to the efficient, cost effective operation of the plant.
8. Ensure compliance with company, state and federal mining and environmental laws and policies.
9. Coordinate plant operations and maintenance to maximize production and proper utilization of maintenance time on each shift.
10. Plan, implement, and monitor plant activities to achieve continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Prior Supervisory Experience necessary, Coal preparation experience a plus
Ability to understanding of coal preparation, prep plant construction, and operation.
Learn and implement State and Federal laws regarding coal preparation, impoundment, chemicals safety, and their proper use of chemicals in coal preparation.
Good communication skills and be able to maintain interpersonal relations.
Understand basic principles relating to the day-to-day preparation plant management and cost control.
