HDR is in search of a dynamic, diverse, and talented traffic engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities- Be an integral part of the area Traffic and Planning team as a technical resource on a variety of traffic design projects.
- Prepare signing, pavement marking, signal, lighting, temporary traffic control, and intelligent transportation system (ITS) plans for stand-alone or multi-disciplinary projects.
- Perform detail checks and work closely with junior staff and technicians on plan development.
- Support Project Managers with the development of fee proposals, provide direction to internal project teams, ensure on-time submission delivery to clients, and monitor project finances.
- Additional assignments may include supporting regional offices on similar traffic design projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- 8 years’ experience related to traffic planning and design
- Working knowledge of DOT standards, specifications, and plan preparation
- Computer skills using Microsoft Office, Project Wise, HCS, Synchro, Guide
SIGN, and ORD - Ability to prioritize and multi-task while working on several projects at once
- Preference given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree
- Experience with traffic analysis and traffic engineering/design
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., PE or P.Eng)
- Detailed hands-on experience conducting traffic design using CAD platforms including Micro Station, AutoCAD and Guide Sign software
- Detailed hands-on experience conducting operational analysis using tools such as HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Aimsun
- Detailed hands-on experience conducting safety analysis using safety software tools including Highway Safety Software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word
- Strong verbal and written skills
