Overview
Senior Automation Lead Engineer – Batch Systems (Delta
V Focus)
Contract Length: Multi‑year program (approx. 3 years)
Travel/On‑Site Expectation: Approx. one week monthly during design; full on‑site presence required during commissioning
We’re supporting a major pharmaceutical manufacturing program and looking for a Senior Automation Lead Engineer to take ownership of the control system strategy for a key production area. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the design and delivery of a large-scale batch automation solution using DeltaV
.
- Act as the automation lead for a dedicated process area
- Define batch control structures following S88 principles
- Develop early-stage design and participate in reviews (P&IDs, control concepts, recipes)
- Partner closely with system integrators to complete functional specifications
- Ensure all automation deliverables align with site and project standards
- Support issue tracking, risk reviews, and technical decision‑making
- Drive software definition—phases, modules, equipment models, and recipes
- Contribute throughout design, testing, commissioning, and final handover
- 8+ years in pharmaceutical automation (API/bulk experience is a plus)
- Significant hands‑on experience with Delta
V Batch (5+ years) - Strong understanding of GMP
, regulatory expectations, and CSV principles - Background in large project or program delivery
- Engineering degree or equivalent experience
- Familiarity with Allen‑Bradley PLCs is beneficial
