Process Engineer / Senior Process Engineer - Thermoforming & Plastics Manufacturing
Locations: Lansing, MI | Randleman, NC | Leola, PA | Remote (with travel)
A leading manufacturer in the food and beverage packaging space is hiring Process Engineers and Senior Process Engineers to support and improve high-volume thermoforming and plastics manufacturing operations across multiple facilities. This is a hands‑on role for engineers who enjoy owning equipment, solving real plant‑floor problems, and leading projects from concept through full‑scale production.
What You'll Do- Lead moderate to large-scale engineering and capital projects, from concept through installation and commissioning
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and support thermoforming and plastics production equipment and processing lines
- Design, improve, and document manufacturing processes, SOPs, test plans, and control strategies
- Support new product introductions, process scale-ups, and plant trials
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, yield, and cost
- Partner cross‑functionally with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams
- Serve as a technical owner for assigned equipment, processes, or product families
- Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience, or Associate's degree with 9+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
- Hands‑on experience with production equipment, process troubleshooting, and data‑driven improvement
- Working knowledge of SPC, FMEA, DOE, Root Cause Analysis, 5S, 8D
- Experience in plastics manufacturing; thermoforming exposure strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience, or Associate's degree with 12+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
- Proven success leading complex equipment, Cap Ex, and process improvement initiatives
- Strong technical depth across manufacturing processes and quality methodologies
- Ability to operate independently in a multi‑site, high‑visibility role
- Direct experience in thermoforming plastics manufacturing (thermoformed cup experience is a strong plus)
- Background in injection molding, print, or high-volume manufacturing environments
- Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
- Experience supporting new product introductions
- Familiarity with CAD and/or process simulation tools
