General Summary
The CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Designer creates precise 2D drawings and 3D models for manufacturing and engineering projects using specialized software. They act as a bridge between conceptual ideas and final production, collaborating with engineering to ensure technical accuracy, feasibility, and compliance with industry standards.
Essential Job Functions- Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical components for manufacturing purposes.
- Work closely with team members to incorporate design requirements and ensure accuracy in drawings.
- Review and modify existing drawings to meet project specifications and standards, ensuring all necessary information is included.
- Generate complete BOM for parts and assemblies in the company software.
- Customer order entry.
- QC of parts to prints.
- Gather data and verify that design specifications are being met during the manufacturing process by conducting site visits.
- Organize and manage project files, including drawings, revisions, and technical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards throughout the design and development process.
- Investigate and resolve mechanical issues that arise during product testing, manufacturing, or customer use, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with suppliers to select materials and manufacturing processes that optimize the performance and cost-effectiveness of mechanical components.
- Participate in design reviews and present technical information to stakeholders, including management and customers, in a clear and concise manner.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in relevant technologies, proactively applying new knowledge to enhance product development.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 5 years of experience in mechanical design required; electrical design experience is a plus.
- Expertise in mechanical design, analysis, and optimization.
- Proficiency in Solid Works CAD software and other relevant engineering tools.
- Ability to demonstrate experience in designing for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
- Solid understanding of material properties and mechanical behavior.
- Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines related to electrical components and systems.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
