Facilities Engineer
Morgan Advanced Materials is seeking qualified applicants to fill the role of Facilities Engineer in our Coudersport facility. This role reports directly to the Facilities Manager and is a key member of our Maintenance Team.
The Performance Carbon business of Morgan Advanced Materials makes high-performance self-lubricating bearing and seal components, predominantly used in pumps, industrial and domestic, or other sealing applications.
Responsibilities include identifying and championing site projects that support continuous improvement and ESG objectives in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, and cost. Supporting the development and implementation of the sites capital investment plan and management of outside contractors, while working cross functionally with EHS, Manufacturing & Process Engineering teams.
Essential functions include sharing responsibility for the overall safety and environmental issues associated with the manufacturing processes and equipment at the site. Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement via tracking of site metrics in the areas of safety, energy/water utilization, operational costs, maintenance costs, production equipment uptime, and improved monitoring. Performing research, design, and recommendations on current industry best practices around facility processes and equipment that includes lowering energy consumption, water reductions, and minimization of waste from site operations.
Championing capital projects through the entire process including obtaining required quotes, preparing justification documentation, submission of the capital expenditure request, tracking of spending, and management of contractors. Working closely with the Facilities Manager on site projects and major equipment replacements. Supporting site 6S activities, participate in 6S events, and ensure they are aligned with company expectations. Assisting the EHS Manager with tracking and monitoring of environmental metrics supporting the 2030 ESG Goals.
Preparing and maintaining detailed layouts of buildings and equipment. Managing and leading complex projects involving cross-functional teams based on a broad scope of facilities engineering. Participating in engineering design reviews with both process and manufacturing engineering. Evaluating, troubleshooting, and solving equipment and infrastructure issues throughout the site. Assisting in training of maintenance and/or shop floor associates on facilities equipment as needed.
Devising methods, design and build special devices or equipment as needed. Developing and maintaining a comprehensive asset registry for the facility, including all critical equipment, utilities, and building systems. Creating lifecycle models for key assets to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term capital planning. Issuing and registering equipment tags for all new equipment for CDY and STM to ensure accurate tracking within the CMMS.
Developing scopes of work, budgets, and timelines for capital projects tied to asset lifecycle and replacement planning. Supporting audits and inspections by providing complete asset records, maintenance documentation, and inspection history. Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications include a bachelor degree in engineering field with minimum 5 years of industrial experience is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Trained in the use of Pro-Engineer/Creo, AUTOCAD, or other modeling design software is desired. Knowledge of Kaizen and Lean/Six-Sigma Manufacturing techniques is desired. Experience writing capital requests and managing larger projects is desired. Ability to coordinate effectively across departments.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks based on organizational needs. Strategic mindset with strong attention to detail, particularly regarding asset lifecycle planning and data accuracy.
Additional requirements include safety orientated. An OHSA 30 Hour Certification for General Industry. Basic knowledge of the NEC, Building, and Fire Codes. Additional training in ergonomics and machine guarding. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Experience working with high performance teams. Problem analysis and problem resolution skills. Must be able to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format. Must be able to work well with subordinates, peers, and superiors in all departments of the Company.
Must be able to work well with external contacts of the Company. Must have good time management, planning, and negotiation skills. In-depth knowledge of blueprint reading, electrical schematics, and P& adhere to all Company policies.
