POSITION SUMMARY:
*
* The Facilities Environmental Coordinator has responsibilities for the onsite Facilities Compliance activities occurring at a specific CFC location while supporting the governance of Facilities Compliance activities within the entire supply chain. This will primarily include Waste Management, EPCRA, SPCC, etc. In addition, this position will have a basic understanding and application of Product Stewardship including Hazmat Storage and Transportation. The position also requires the ability to train other associates both within and outside the department in core areas.
The Facilities Environmental Coordinator will also actively participate in planning and execution of department projects, interpreting and explaining regulations, tracking emerging issues and participating as a member of EC&S department's teams to develop and execute action plans for new or existing regulations and Sustainability initiatives.
** DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
* ** Facilities Compliance Activities*
* + Develops basic understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations including but not limited to waste, Spill Prevention Countermeasures and Control (SPCC), Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA), recycling requirements, etc.
+ Coordinates with third party consultants and effected MSC locations to develop and implement spill prevention countermeasures and control (SPCC) plans to meet EPA requirements for facilities impacted by the regulation. This includes assisting and monitoring sites to ensure that all required training, monthly and annual inspections, and recordkeeping are compliant.
+ Actively coordinates and leads facilitate compliance projects e.g.
branch/CFC/CSC waste surveys) to identify gaps and/or process improvements needed for improved compliance and potential cost savings.
** Hazmat Transportation / Storage*
* + Reviews and classifies hazardous items for DOT transportation compliance.
+ Be able to facilitate hazmat shipments for small parcel, LTL, Truck, Vessel, Air, and AFMAN, including marks, labels, packaging, shipping, placarding, and segregation.
+ Reviews and classifies hazardous items for storage compliance within our facilities.
+ Ensure that the hazmat storage areas are appropriately configured in the WMS and account for the correct storage capacity in those areas engineered for the specified hazardous substances.
+ Provide audits for both hazardous packing and hazardous storage processes within the Supply Chain Operations.
** Waste Profiling / Management*
* + Applies knowledge of US EPA regulations from the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) to properly characterize and dispose of wastes, including the review of hazardous waste manifests and Land Disposal Restriction Forms.
+ Maintain Central Accumulation Area and Satellite Accumulation Areas across the facility in a manner that ensures regulatory and statute compliance.
+ Coordinates with waste companies to properly track and manage cradle-to-grave liabilities and recordkeeping.
+ Provides guidance to branches and CFCs on Universal Waste storage and disposal as well as waste minimization opportunities.
+ Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums and/or containers according to RCRA and disposal guidelines.
+ Process waste and prepare waste containers for shipment, perform container closures per TSDF closure instructions, prepare shipping papers and waste manifests.
+ Assist in completing all necessary paperwork for processing materials to include DOT shipping papers and waste manifests.
+ Transport materials and waste to and from various locations across the facility.
+ Assist in the loading/unloading of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials of various size containers (e.g., totes, drums, etc.) at designated sites utilizing appropriate equipment for which you are appropriately trained.
+ Coordinate with external agencies, such as regulatory authorities and waste disposal facilities, to ensure proper waste management practices are followed.
+ Monitor and evaluate hazardous waste management practices, procedures, and equipment to identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actions.
