Competitive salary up to $140,000+ based on experience, leadership scope, and technical depth—top-of-range compensation is reserved for candidates who demonstrate strong, job-relevant experience and independent capability
If you're a technical leader who can develop people, drive accountability, and still stay connected to real engineering work—this role will feel like a natural fit.
At American Crane & Equipment Corporation (ACECO), we're looking for a hands-on Electrical Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers while improving processes, driving standards, and supporting real-world manufacturing and customer needs.
This is not a "sit in meetings and manage from a distance" role—you're expected to lead from the front.
You won't get lost here—your impact will be seen in both your team and the work they produce.
What This Role Really IsThis is a working manager role—you'll spend your time leading and developing engineers, managing workload and priorities, driving accountability, and staying close enough to the technical work to make sound decisions that impact design, manufacturing, and customer outcomes.
Who Thrives Here (and Who Doesn't)You'll do well here if you:
- Hold people accountable while building trust and developing talent
- Can balance leadership responsibilities with technical awareness
- Are comfortable operating in a growing, evolving environment
This role is likely not a fit if you:
- Prefer purely technical work with no people responsibility
- Avoid difficult conversations or performance management
- Need highly structured environments with little ambiguity
- Build credibility with the engineering team through consistency and follow-through
- Gain visibility into current workloads, backlog, and team capabilities
- Establish clear expectations for accountability, communication, and performance
- Begin stabilizing priorities and improving execution across projects
- Identify initial opportunities for process and system improvements
- Leadership Impact – Directly influence team performance and engineering outcomes
- Ownership & Influence – Shape engineering standards, processes, and future direction
- Cross-Functional Authority – Work closely with Manufacturing, Sales, Project Management, and Service
- Technical Environment – Stay connected to real-world engineering, not just management
- Stability & Growth – Established company with ongoing investment in people and systems
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and develop a team of Electrical Engineers (I–III)
- Set clear expectations for performance, accountability, and communication
- Provide coaching, feedback, and support for skill development
- Build trust across both experienced and newer team members
Planning, Scheduling & Execution
- Manage engineering workloads, backlogs, and project priorities
- Ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time
- Balance competing demands across multiple projects and stakeholders
Process Improvement & Standards
- Develop and implement engineering standards, workflows, and best practices
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the department
- Support adoption of ERP, scheduling tools, and system improvements
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Manufacturing, Project Management, Sales, and other engineering groups
- Ensure engineering output aligns with production needs and customer expectations
- Communicate technical and non-technical information clearly across teams
Technical Oversight & Accountability
- Stay connected to design work to support decision-making and problem-solving
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, UL 508A, CMAA, ASME, NOG-1, NUM-1, and NUREG requirements
- Support manufacturing and customer needs with timely, practical engineering solutions
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program required
Experience
- Experience at the Electrical Engineer II level or higher
- Proven experience leading a team of 5–10 engineers
- Strong experience in…
