Job Summary:
A BIW (Body-in-White) Fixture Design Engineer develops the tooling and fixtures used to hold, locate, and weld automotive sheet metal components
Key Responsibilities Concept Development:
Create fixture concepts based on the 3-2-1 principle and BIW process layouts 3D Modeling & 2D Detailing:
Design fixture units (e.g., clamps, locators, rests, and dump units) using CAD software like CATIA V5 or NX Design Validation:
Conduct robot payload validation for EOAT, and input checks for concept and 3D finish designs
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Coordinate with process, simulation, and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for welding access and avoid clashes Standards & Documentation:
Adhere to OEM manufacturing standards and create detailed Bills of Materials (BOM), Pneumatic cylinder validation sheets (Clamp, Pin, Dump, Slide Units), manufacturing drawings
