What You Need to be Successful in this Role:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, improving, and maintaining Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective production of electronic assemblies. The role supports new product introductions, process optimization, quality improvement, and compliance with industry standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and optimizing SMT processes such as solder paste printing, pick-and-place, reflow soldering, AOI, and X-ray inspection.
- Establishing process parameters, monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing corrective actions.
- Supporting new product introductions by reviewing PCB designs, providing DFM feedback, coordinating prototype builds, and creating manufacturing documentation.
- Leading quality and continuous improvement efforts through root cause analysis, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC, DOE, and FMEA methodologies.
- Working with maintenance teams to improve equipment performance, implement new technologies, and develop preventive maintenance practices.
- Collaborating with quality, production, engineering, suppliers, and vendors while training operators and technicians on best practices.
