About the role:
As a Principal Engineer you will develop and review technical plans, specifications, and documentation for electric motor repair, manufacturing, and remanufacturing projects. You will provide hands‑on technical leadership to shop personnel and suppliers, ensuring quality through inspections, testing, and resolution of non‑conformances while supporting bid and proposal efforts. You will report to the Manager of Rotating Equipment Services Engineering and be located at our Waltz Mill Facility in Madison, PA.
This is a hybrid position with 2‑3 days expected in the office.
- Create electric motor repair plans, drawings, technical specifications, or procurement documents.
- Provide technical leadership to onsite shop personnel as they inspect, repair, and manufacture motors.
- Support the bid and proposal process as a technical input lead for the manufacture of new replacement motors or remanufactures, including replacement of stator core and winding system.
- Witness motor electrical testing at multiple steps throughout the manufacture and rewind process to ensure test specifications are achieved.
- Apply technical expertise to disposition non‑conformances and project documents generated by suppliers and the internal operations team.
- Advise equipment owners (our customers) on inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of large electric motors.
- Work as part of a cross‑functional team including quality engineering, supply chain management, technicians, and supplier teams.
- Determine critical equipment characteristics to support equipment qualification and commercial dedication activities.
- Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
- 8 years minimum related experience in the field of electric motor design or manufacture.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing and test processes for low and medium voltage AC induction motors.
The base salary range for this position is $103,200 to $129,000 per year.
