This role involves contributing to the electrical team for one or more New Product Development (NPD) projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the electrical team for one or more New Product Development (NPD) projects.
  • Designs electrical circuit schematics for test boards, prototypes, and new product designs.
  • Independently and creatively develops ideas and solutions to electrical and system design problems.
  • Validates, tests, and debugs circuit boards.
  • Develops printed circuit board (PCB) layout of complex multi-layer circuit board designs.
  • Completes PCB Gerber file generation, ordering, and design file coordination with the fabrication house.
  • Completes surface mount component rework of printed circuit boards and component replacement as needed.
  • Runs and documents electrical and system tests.
  • Qualifications:

    Special

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

    • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
    • Knowledge of digital/analog circuit design and communication protocols such as SPI, UART, I2C.
    • Solid interpersonal skills in design collaboration with the electrical engineering team.
    • Creative Problem Solving Skills.
    • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Tools.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

    Special

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

    • Knowledge of schematic capture and PCB design using Altium Designer or other similar software.
    • Knowledge of the PCB/PCBA manufacturing process.
    • Knowledge of electrical design implementation to meet EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) standards.

    Education and Experience

    Required:

    • Must be pursuing an Associates or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or other relevant Engineering discipline, from an ABET-accredited program, and have completed at least one semester of Sophomore year before beginning this co-op rotation.
