At KLH Engineers, we specialize in water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Our team delivers structural design solutions that protect public health and the environment. We are looking for a Civil / Structural Engineer to join our Water/Wastewater team in Pittsburgh, PA.
Responsibilities- Perform structural analysis and design for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump and lift stations, storage structures, and related infrastructure.
- Develop construction documents, including structural calculations, plans, specifications, and technical reports.
- Design reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, aluminum, and fiberglass‑reinforced structures from foundation to roof.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, process, and environmental engineers to develop integrated project solutions.
- Conduct field investigations, site visits, and condition assessments of existing structures.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, and contractor RFIs during construction.
- Assist with structural rehabilitation, expansion, and replacement projects for aging infrastructure.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and client requirements.
- Support project managers with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and client communications.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering emphasis.
- 0‑6 years of structural engineering experience, preferably in water/wastewater, industrial, or municipal infrastructure projects.
- EEI certification or ability to obtain within six months.
- Professional Engineering Designation (P.E.) a plus.
- Ability to learn and use structural analysis and design software.
- Knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel design.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- AutoCAD and/or Revit expertise.
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
- Experience with engineering calculations and report preparation.
- Experience in construction phase services and field observations.
