We are searching for the best talent for a Fellow Drug Substance Biotherapeutics. We are looking for a Fellow to join the Emerging Technologies, MSAT organization. The successful candidate will serve as a technical expert, shaping and defining solutions for advanced manufacturing that support Process Intensification and Real Time Release, with a final aim of process reliability, enhancements, and control. They will guide and mentor others, shaping our advanced manufacturing roadmap. Identify, pursue, and maintain relationships with internal and external partners (academic, government, and commercial) using MSAT, MTO, and DPDS resources as needed.

Identify areas of highest impact on implementing new technologies, focusing on broad applicability and ease of introduction. This role involves laboratory and pilot-scale execution of studies and a track record of contributing to business through identification and application of technologies to create competitive products and processes (new or improved processes or products, trade secrets, patents/publications) through discovery and licensure.

Key Responsibilities
  • High-impact individual contributor influencing and shaping the strategic direction of advanced manufacturing solutions that deliver high-value competitive products and processes.
  • Scout and benchmark new technologies and advancements in biotherapeutic drug substance manufacturing.
  • Identify, pursue, and maintain relationships within internal and external partners such as academic, government, and commercial.
  • Serve as a technical mentor and support the Emerging Technologies organization; work with leads to ensure the best solutions are tested and driven toward adoption.
  • Collaborate with laboratory execution of studies to develop new technologies and innovations.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Minimum requirements: BA/BS, PhD with minimum 10-12 years of experience
  • Education in a technical field related to pharmaceutical manufacturing (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry) or related quantitative scientific field is preferred.

Experience and Skills:

  • Outstanding track record of delivering meaningful solutions and strategic directions for next-generation pharmaceutical manufacturing in Biotherapeutics.
  • Significant expertise in pharmaceutical manufacturing with a focus on biotherapeutic or parenteral drug substance processes and related unit operations, including impacts to GxP regulations.
  • Excellent scientific communication, including authoring documents (white papers, publications) and clear presentation of quantitative information.

Preferred:

  • Quality by Design principles and Real-time release testing.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing cGMPs, Systems Qualification, Process Validations, process sciences, Tech Transfers, QbD, analytical technology, PAT, Continuous Manufacturing, Modular Manufacturing.
  • Modeling experience (chemo metric, mechanistic, machine learning, AI).
  • External engagement through white papers, presentations, publications; strong academic and industry network.

Other:

  • Proficient English, both written and spoken.
  • Requires up to 20% domestic and international travel.
