Compensation

The estimated base salary range for this role is $80,000 to $130,000 per year. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors.

Job Overview

Armstrong World Industries (AWI) has a job opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to be located in Marietta, PA. Reporting to the plant Engineering & Capital Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will provide technical services for individual Value Streams, relate to manufacturing equipment and processes, provide daily technical support, identify and execute process improvement and cost reduction opportunities, and design, manage, and execute capital projects of moderate scope and complexity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Actively participate as a member of the Value Stream Steering Team to drive resolution of common cause and special cause issues that negatively impact Safety, Quality, Cost, and/or Productivity.
  • Communicate effectively with an interdisciplinary team to support the success of their area of operation.
  • Investigate manufacturing issues within the Value Stream and recommend corrective action.
  • Serve as the plant contact for strategic project teams impacting their Value Stream and represent the plant’s needs to those teams, communicating issues needing resolution back to the Plant.
  • Apply Precision Maintenance concepts and principals to all work performed.
  • Interact with vendors/suppliers to scope projects, receive bids/quotes, place orders, and manage/oversee execution.
  • Manage and drive a complex project portfolio with multiple goals, timelines, sizes, and scopes.
  • Support 24/7 operation.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a similar field.
  • Five or more years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in budgeting and estimating projects.
  • Experience using AutoCAD.
Preferred Qualifications
  • EIT or FE, or Professional Engineer certification.
  • Experience using Minitab.
  • Lean Practitioner certification and/or experience.
  • Experience in using SAP.
  • Prior experience with MS Project.
