Civil Highway Engineer / Bridge Roadway Design Engineer - 26-00429
Oxford Solutions is working with a client seeking a Civil Highway Engineer with an active Pennsylvania PE license to support roadway and bridge-related infrastructure projects. This role will focus on highway and approach roadway design for bridge projects, supporting work from early concept through final delivery.
This is a strong opportunity for a civil engineering professional with PennDOT roadway design experience, Micro Station proficiency, and a background in permitting, traffic control, hydrology, hydraulics, and erosion and sediment control planning.
Responsibilities
- Support highway and approach roadway design for bridge and transportation projects from concept through construction-ready deliverables
- Perform civil engineering design tasks, including roadway design, site design, engineering calculations, cost estimates, plan review, technical checking, and report writing
- Prepare and submit traffic control plans, detour plans, and related roadway documentation
- Assist with Chapter 105 and Chapter 102 permitting requirements
- Support hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and prepare erosion and sediment control plans
- Apply AASHTO, PennDOT, and related highway design standards to project work
- Coordinate with project teams, reviewers, agencies, and other technical disciplines to keep projects moving forward
- Use Bentley Micro Station and related design tools to develop accurate project plans and documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Active Professional Engineer license in Pennsylvania
- Minimum of 5 years of civil design experience, preferably with highway, bridge, roadway, or transportation-related projects
- Strong working knowledge of highway and site design criteria, including AASHTO and PennDOT design manuals and standards
- Ability to operate Bentley Micro Station efficiently
- Experience preparing traffic control plans, detour plans, permitting documentation, H&H analysis, and E&S plans
- Experience with hydrologic, hydraulic, and related civil design tools
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage calculations, estimates, reports, and plan deliverables accurately
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, agencies, and project stakeholders
