Position SummaryWe are seeking an Entry-Level Electrical Drafter/Designer to join our engineering and design team. This position is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone beginning a career in electrical drafting, industrial design, or electrical engineering technology.
The Electrical Drafter/Designer will work closely with engineers, project managers, and other technical team members to develop and maintain electrical drawings, schematics, layouts, and project documentation for industrial equipment and control systems.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable working with technical drawings, and eager to build experience in industrial electrical design and automation.
Key Responsibilities- Create and revise electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
- Prepare electrical design documents using AutoCAD and other computer-aided drafting software.
- Assist engineers with the development of electrical control system drawings.
- Create and update electrical one-line diagrams, control diagrams, and equipment layouts.
- Develop wiring and termination drawings for electrical panels and field equipment.
- Assist with electrical panel layout and component placement.
- Maintain accurate drawing revisions and project documentation.
- Update existing drawings based on engineering changes, field conditions, or customer requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of bills of materials and equipment lists.
- Work with engineers to ensure drawings accurately reflect project specifications and design requirements.
- Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Assist with the selection and documentation of electrical components.
- Support the design of motor controls, variable frequency drives, instrumentation, PLC systems, and other industrial control equipment.
- Organize and maintain project drawing files and technical documentation.
- Assist with preparing drawings for fabrication, installation, and field construction.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate design updates with engineers and project team members.
- Make drawing revisions based on redlines, engineering comments, and field changes.
- Follow company drafting standards and applicable electrical codes and design practices.
- Associate degree, technical degree, certificate, or coursework in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Design, Drafting, CAD, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Recent graduates and entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, schematics, or technical drawings.
- Experience or coursework using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple drawings and project assignments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team.
- Willingness to learn industrial electrical systems, controls, automation, and company drafting standards.
Experience may come from school, internships, co-op programs, technical training, or previous employment. Exposure to any of the following is helpful but not required:

This position will primarily work in an engineering and office environment with regular interaction with electrical engineers, designers, project managers, and fabrication personnel.
Occasional visits to manufacturing areas, panel shops, customer facilities, or project sites may be required to verify measurements, review equipment, or assist with project documentation.
