Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The hourly salary for this role ranges from $20.77 - $25.96 per hour.
What You'll DoThe Electrical Engineering Services and Systems global service team is one of the largest and most experienced teams of power system professionals in the industry. As one of our engineers, you'll help to provide solutions to our customers' power problems at every stage of the power system.
The Switchgear Modernization Engineer Internship is designed to provide opportunities to interns who demonstrate the same high level of ethics, values, creativity and performance we expect from our employees. During the summer paid internship, participants will work on projects that have a measurable impact on our business and will be coached and mentored by leaders within the division.
Eaton's switch gear modernization offers cost-effective renovation to existing equipment, with minimal power interruptions and without total replacement. Our solutions extend the useful life of aging electrical power systems by providing safe and reliable reconditioning of existing equipment, as well as new replacement circuit breakers and other components that improve reliability and safety in existing power systems.
In this internship, you will:
- Test and Troubleshoot: Use a wide range of electrical, electronic, and mechanical tools and equipment to test products and ensure they meet customer specifications.
- Documentation and Analysis: Prepare and verify technical CAD drawings, schematics, bill of materials and layouts; analyze nonstandard equipment for manufacturability.
- Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve issues independently or with engineering support; maintain accurate test records.
- Collaboration and Support: Work closely with manufacturing teams and customers.
This internship will help prepare you for both technical and future leadership roles an intern, you will be provided with a structured training and development curriculum; a blend of instructor-led, virtual classrooms, eLearning courses, and on-the-job training provided by expert mentors and team members to assist you in developing your career.
QualificationsRequired (Basic) Qualifications:
- Actively enrolled or received a degree in a bachelor's or master's program with a focus in engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8

- Must be geographically flexible to relocate within the United States
- Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
- Actively enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in an electrical, mechanical, or mechatronics engineering program from an accredited institution
- Overall cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher
- Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community
- Prior electrical/power industry related experience
- Experience in testing, troubleshooting, evaluating, and servicing electrical distribution and control systems
