Exelon seeks a Principal Engineer - Transmission Planning to lead complex transmission scenario studies within our Engineering & Design organization. You will develop and evaluate long range transmission plans, perform power flow and stability analyses, and assess system reliability under emerging grid scenarios, including renewables and distributed energy resources. Responsibilities include leading technical teams, guiding model development, advising on capital investment decisions, and collaborating with regulators, utilities, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Lead complex transmission scenario planning studies to assess long term system performance, capacity needs, and reliability risks across Exelon's service territories.
- Develop and evaluate multi year scenarios that reflect load growth, electrification, distributed energy resources, and renewable integration to inform transmission investment strategies.
- Perform detailed power system modeling, including load flow, stability, and contingency analyses, to identify system constraints and recommend solutions.
- Translate planning results into actionable recommendations for grid upgrades, new transmission infrastructure, and operational enhancements that support reliability and resilience.
- Collaborate closely with system planning, operations, engineering, and regulatory teams to align scenario assumptions and ensure consistency with corporate strategy and regulatory requirements.
- Incorporate evolving federal, regional, and state reliability, resilience, and interconnection standards into planning methodologies and documentation.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to planning engineers, reviewing models, methods, and study deliverables for quality and accuracy.
- Support business cases and investment prioritization by quantifying technical benefits, risks, and system performance impacts of proposed projects and portfolios.
- Communicate complex technical findings in clear, concise terms to both technical and non technical stakeholders, including senior leadership and external partners.
- Champion innovative planning techniques, data analytics, and digital tools that improve forecasting accuracy and scenario insight, aligning with Exelon's focus on sustainable and resilient energy solutions.
- Integrate climate, extreme weather, and resilience considerations into long term transmission scenarios and planning criteria.
- Engage with regional transmission organizations, utilities, and industry working groups to share insights and stay current on best practices in transmission scenario planning.
