Engineering Interns - Summer 2027 (Biotech)
This is your opportunity to learn from the best! Manitowoc Cranes is looking for self-starting, motivated Engineering Interns for Summer 2027. This position is located in Shady Grove, PA. This is the perfect opportunity to enhance your education with practical hands‑on experience to prepare you for your future and Build Something Real. This is a support role for engineering, with manufacturing and new product development exposure.
You will interact with managers, project leaders, and engineers on a daily basis.
Support engineering staff by performing basic engineering assignments in the design and development of crane control systems.
This can involve participation with planning, technology research, functional design, prototyping, product/component testing, etc.
In this internship you will gain experience with multiple engineering roles such as Application, Electrical, Hydraulic, Powertrain and Structural. You will be exposed to:- Crane design and manufacturing
- Design reviews
- Structural fabrication processes including cutting, welding, forming, machining and more.
- The product development process and manufacturing principles
- The systems prototyping process
- Production changes
- Final assembly processes
- Quality assurance processes
Electrical, Hydraulic or Powertrain Engineering
- Basic knowledge of Electrical or Hydraulic Schematics
- Basic knowledge of Electrical/Electronic or Hydraulic Test Equipment
- Basic ability to format and analyze results of Data Acquisition tests.
- Basic knowledge of engines, transmissions, gearboxes, heating/cooling systems
- Ability to parse, organize and create test reports from collected data.
Motivated and self-starter
Emphasis on design and manufacturing course work. Basic working knowledge of a 3D modeling software, preferably Creo...AND/OR:
Emphasis on structural course work. Basic working knowledge of a FEA program such as ANSYS
Strong hobbies and interests in all things mechanical.
Previous internship working with construction equipment or civil engineering projects like bridgesis a plus.
Experience in a test environment, application of strain gages, accelerometers, and other measurement equipment on large steel structuresis a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS:- Must be enrolled as a student at an accredited university studying toward a bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Must have and maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0/4.0
- Should be mechanically inclined and have an interest in new product development, construction equipment, and manufacturing.
