Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for mechanical components and assemblies, using Solid Works, Pro/Engineer, and AutoCAD.
Develop, maintain, and update accurate change logs and issue logs throughout the machine build process, following the company Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process to correct and improve designs.
Support capital equipment machine start-up and debug activities, including troubleshooting mechanical issues during all phases of the build.
Convert standard machine designs between Solid Works and Pro/Engineer to support various projects and product platforms.
Collaborate closely with purchasing by communicating with vendors to ensure designs are manufactured efficiently and cost-effectively, providing technical details and clarifications as needed.
Safely maintain and manage machine designs while working with proprietary and confidential data, adhering to all relevant procedures and guidelines.
Design tooling fixtures for various advanced manufacturing technologies, ensuring functionality, safety, and alignment with customer requirements.
Coordinate with project management to ensure all customer expectations and specifications are thoroughly considered and incorporated during the design phase.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for all tooling designs, including revisions and updates.
Work with global engineering teammates on special projects to improve the design and fabrication of machines built at different sites.
Review and analyze different product families to help establish more standard component lists and drive product standardization initiatives.
Create, maintain, and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) for machines and tooling, ensuring accuracy and completeness for manufacturing and aftermarket support.
Support aftermarket operations with technical information and design updates as needed.
Use Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, to prepare reports, documentation, and presentations related to design and project work.
Engage in cross-functional collaboration with teams such as project management, purchasing, manufacturing, and global engineering groups to ensure project success.
Communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal forms to share design intent, project status, and technical information with internal and external stakeholders.
Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, prioritizing work to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
Apply critical thinking and disciplined problem-solving skills to analyze issues, develop practical solutions, and make sound engineering judgments.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of five (5) years of 3D modeling experience using Solid Works and Pro-Engineer (Creo).
Minimum of five (5) years of 2D drafting experience with Solid Works, Pro-Engineer (Creo), and AutoCAD.
Strong mechanical design skills with experience in capital equipment or complex machinery.
Hands-on experience running machines and designing and assembling fixtures (preferred).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
Good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively multi-task across multiple projects.
Knowledge of various fabrication processes, including machining, sheet metal, and welding.
