Are you ready to lead the chemistry behind a high-performing electroplating operation? Penn United Technologies is seeking an experienced Chemistry Lab Manager to join our growing team and play a critical role in driving quality, productivity, environmental compliance, and customer satisfaction. In this hands-on leadership position, you’ll oversee our chemistry lab team, ensure lab chemicals and equipment are properly maintained, and help optimize plating chemistries to meet the highest standards of performance and regulatory compliance.

• Oversee all electroplating chemistry testing, maintenance, and process control, to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Ensure plating baths remain within specification and troubleshoot chemistry-related production issues
• Lead environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance activities, including permitting, reporting, hazardous waste management, and agency communication
• Maintain precious metal accountability and reclaim process
• Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), regulatory documentation, manifests, and compliance records
• Coordinate chemistry purchasing, inventory management, and supplier relationships
• Develop and implement laboratory procedures
• Research new plating chemistries, analytical methods, and manufacturing technologies that improve quality, reduce cost, and expand capabilities
• Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Production to support manufacturing and new product development
• Lead and manage the schedules and activities of chemistry lab team ensuring all resources are utilized efficiently and goals are accomplished
• Select, train and motivate personnel, set goals and support career development and provide regular performance evaluations and feedback
• Provide guidance and support to chemistry lab team, make decisions regarding disciplinary action, ensure adherence to safety and quality protocols, company policies and best practices

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science
• Minimum of 7 years of experience managing laboratory operations, electroplating chemistries or related manufacturing processes
• Experience leading technical teams and driving continuous improvement

• Advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science
• Experience with precious metals
• Experience with hazardous materials

• Deep understanding of electrolysis, bath chemistry, metallurgy, and analytical equipment
• Proven management and supervisory skills
• High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and deadlines
• Excellent analytical, trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills
• Committed to team development, product and service excellence
• Ability to keep up to date with new developments and technologies
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and able to quickly learn and use required computer software
• Excellent organizational skills, self-motivated, able to effectively manage multiple tasks
• Strong ability to professionally communicate using both verbal and written skills
