Assistant Controller – Property Accounting

Job Description:
The Assistant Controller will have the responsibility of working with property accounting staff, including senior accountants, accounts payable and treasury team members to provide leadership and oversight over the day-to-day financial operations of their assigned properties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Prepare and review all aspects of the monthly property closings for their assigned properties to produce accurate and timely property financial statements
- Act as liaison between Property Management, Asset Management, Capital Markets, Due Diligence, Fund Accounting and other departments to deliver accurate financial information, on a timely basis.
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly reporting to lenders, where applicable.
- Review tenant leases/amendments regarding tenant set-up and billings matters
- Assist the Collection Coordinator with tenant ledger and billing inquiries
- Review monthly management fee calculations
- Review and evaluate current and future cash requirements at the property level
- Prepare/review monthly work papers, bank reconciliations and variance reports
- Review and approve vendor invoices
- Prepare and review monthly distributions and capital calls, at the property level and related fund level
- Coordinate completion of annual budgets with other departments and property managers
- Assist in the annual audit process and provide support to the Fund Controller, Property Controller and Chief Financial Officer
Ancillary Responsibilities
- Work closely with Due Diligence and Capital Markets regarding property sales, acquisitions, appraisals and lender related issues.
- Work on special projects as assigned by senior management

- BA/BS Degree in Accounting
- Minimum 5 years experience in real estate and/or property management accounting as a Supervisor.
- Advanced Excel skills preferred
- Property Management/Accounting software experience (Yardi, Avidx Change, Concur, Blackline, etc.)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Solid understanding of all real estate accounting issues
- Excellent communication and organization skills are essential
