Location: Brandywine Summit

Summary Reviews information on loan applications to verify for accuracy and analyzes credit information to determine whether applicants qualify for mortgage loans. Recommends and/or exercises discretion to determine appropriate underwriting decision within policy, including approving, denying, or modifying mortgage loans. Recommendations or decisions may include consideration of multiple courses of action.

Key Responsibilities Reviews, analyzes and underwrites large, conventional, unusual or complex loan applications including individual consumer requests and products within company and industry guidelines. Possesses up to conforming loan amount in approval authority.

Reviews and analyzes appraisal to evaluate market value and determine that the property meets investor standards and qualifies as security for the loan requested.

Ensures loan processing in accordance with investor and mortgage insurance guidelines.

Coordinates prefunding quality control to include reviewing mortgage banker loans, performing verbal employment verification, clearing conditions, and checking Freddie Mac exclusionary list.

Works with clients to prepare mortgage applications and related documentation as needed; helps resolve any outstanding issues.

Provides underwriting loan notices and loan commitments and analyzes change requests.

Stays current on secondary market underwriting guidelines and changes to ensure compliance, as well as a thorough knowledge of mortgage insurance policies.

Manages Approval and Condition Queue to maintain company service standards.

Ensures the Federal, State, and local regulatory compliance of all mortgage and loan materials.

Ensures the quality and accuracy of each loan.

Identifies transaction components that indicate a potential for fraud and performs sufficient investigative work to resolve issues that are identified.

Professionally communicates the results of file review both verbally and in written format to internal and external customers.

Is responsible for adhering to operational controls, including compliance with all required regulations and policies such as the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to ensure the safety and soundness of the State Financial Network.

Education/Experience High school diploma plus 3 years of underwriting experience in a mortgage related industry or, equivalent experience.

Bachelor’s degree preferred
