Job Overview – Vice President, Accounting
Location: Fairfield County, CT, Connecticut
Type: Perm (Contingency)
Salary: $125,000 – $150,000/year + bonus
Atlantic Group is hiring a Vice President, Accounting in Fairfield County, CT for our client, supporting accounting operations, tax compliance, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic finance initiatives within a financial services environment. This leadership role will partner closely with executive leadership to oversee accounting functions, drive operational efficiencies, manage regulatory compliance, and provide actionable financial insights to support business objectives.
The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise, tax experience, and a hands‑on leadership approach.
- Accounting Leadership:
Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and financial reporting activities. - Tax Management:
Lead federal, state, and local tax compliance efforts, coordinate with external advisors, and support tax planning initiatives. - Financial Planning:
Manage budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and long‑range planning processes to support business strategy. - Financial Reporting:
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements while ensuring compliance with GAAP standards. - Audit & Controls:
Direct audit processes, strengthen internal controls, and maintain policies and procedures that support financial integrity and compliance. - Strategic Partnership:
Collaborate with executive leadership to analyze financial performance, evaluate opportunities, and support key business decisions.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Master’s degree and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation are strongly preferred. - Experience:
4–7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including management experience and responsibility for accounting operations, is required. - Industry Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of tax compliance, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, GAAP accounting, internal controls, and audit processes is required. Experience with in financial services, investment management, real estate, or related industries is required. - Technical
Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial reporting systems, accounting software, and financial modeling tools is required. - Skills & Attributes:
Strong leadership, analytical, communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, collaborate across departments, and translate financial data into actionable business insights are required.
