Business Banking Credit Underwriter
The Business Banking Credit Underwriter is responsible for underwriting commercial loans in accordance with the Bank’s lending policy, ensuring a high standard of quality and compliance with all procedures and regulations. The incumbent reviews and analyzes business and personal financial statements to render credit decisions for Small Business & Business Banking loan applicants, balancing credit risk and opportunity.
Responsibilities- Review personal and business financial statements and reports to calculate financial ratios and complete financial analysis to assess the overall creditworthiness of loan applicants.
- Assist sales and fulfillment partners from the loan application stage through the loan closing process.
- Deliver credit decisions within the individual’s assigned credit authority and seek escalated approval authority as necessary.
- Mentor junior colleagues through credit investigations to support overall team advancement in rendering sound credit decisions.
- Perform all other duties as assigned, including assistance with audits, compliance, asset recovery management, and other Bank initiatives.
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience with a background in finance or accounting.
- Minimum 3‑5 years of credit review experience, including demonstrated ability to analyze business and personal financial statements and independently render sound credit decisions.
- Strong knowledge of Small Business or Business Banking loan underwriting, including tax returns, credit reports, and related documentation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with both internal and external partners.
- Thorough knowledge of credit and regulatory policies.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

This position may be filled at the Underwriter or Senior Underwriter level based on the candidate’s experience, credit authority, and demonstrated underwriting complexity. Level and compensation will be determined during the hiring process.
Salary Range
: $64,491.00 - $. Individual base pay may vary based on experience, job-related skills, relevant education, geographic location, and other specific business and organizational needs.
