Job Description

The Assistant Plant Controller supports the Plant Controller in overseeing accounting operations and internal controls within the plant(s), ensuring accuracy and compliance across all financial reporting. The role manages daily accounting functions, assists in preparing and analyzing financial statements, and provides budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis support to the plant leadership team. The Assistant Plant Controller serves as a key business partner, driving insights that improve financial performance and efficiency.

Principal

Accountabilities
  • Support plant financial reporting, including monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely balance sheets, income statements, and related financial schedules.
  • Support compliance with US GAAP, enterprise policies, and internal control requirements.
  • Support the maintenance of SOX documentation and coordinate testing activities with internal and external auditors.
  • Support the oversight of the accuracy of inventory valuation, cost standards, and capital expenditures.
  • Lead the coordination of Accenture GBS/Operations Analysts to ensure plant support activities are monitored and executed appropriately, escalating when activities do not meet expectations.
Cost & Budget Management
  • Support the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and rolling estimates.
  • Support operations with the analysis of cost drivers, productivity trends, and efficiency initiatives.
  • Drive monitoring of standard costing, manufacturing variance analysis, and cost improvement projects.
  • Support Enterprise objectives at the plant level – Economic Profit/Spread, TOE, Fit 2 Win, etc.
  • Support the operations teams with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives through financial analysis.
  • Assist in the management of plant fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, and physical inventories.
Business Partnership
  • Collaborate with the Plant Manager, Plant Controller, and plant functional leaders to interpret financial results and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support the connection between the plant and Country group finance teams.
  • Assist the Plant Controller in presenting monthly performance summaries to plant and country group leadership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or cost accounting environment.
  • Sound understanding of cost accounting, variance analysis, and manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred), Microsoft Excel, and Power BI.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Additional Information

Salary Range: $80,000 - $95,000, plus a possible quarterly incentive bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based on candidate experience and other job‑related factors permitted by law.
