As a Middle Market Corporate Banking Portfolio Manager II, you will be responsible for credit underwriting, monitoring, and portfolio management of new and existing commercial banking relationships to ensure strong credit quality and efficient internal processes to retain and expand customer relationships.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Managing a portfolio of complex credits with limited supervision.
  • Exhibiting expert knowledge of clients and credits when interacting with peers, relationship managers, and senior managers across departments.
  • Effectively performing credit underwriting and risk administration with emphasis on credit policy adherence, financial analysis/modeling, risk evaluation, portfolio maintenance, and client support.
  • Structuring, underwriting, and documenting new business, renewals, and modifications as the first line of defense.
  • Monitoring the portfolio to anticipate issues and develop solutions, handling multiple demands and competing priorities.
  • Meeting deadlines and schedules related to maintaining portfolio compliance with credit and risk policies.
  • Providing client management support with direct client interaction and resolving complex credit monitoring and administration issues.
  • Staying current with industry and market information related to assigned markets and customers and sharing insights with other RMs and PMs.
Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications:
    • 8+ years underwriting and portfolio management experience with a regional commercial bank or larger institution.
    • Middle Market or Mid‑Corporate experience in C&I.
    • Bachelor’s degree required and formal credit training.
    • Minimum of 4 days a week in office.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in advanced financial modeling in Excel.
    • Strong collaboration skills with internal partners and a client‑centric focus.
    • Proven expertise in credit underwriting and portfolio management of complex commercial banking relationships.
    • Advanced proficiency in financial analysis, credit modeling, and risk evaluation with deep understanding of regulatory compliance and credit policy.
    • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a high‑complexity credit portfolio with expert knowledge of client businesses.
    • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to anticipate portfolio issues and develop strategic solutions.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams and engage directly with clients.
    • In‑depth knowledge of industry trends and market dynamics with a commitment to knowledge sharing.
    • Experience in structuring, underwriting, and documenting new credit opportunities, renewals, and modifications within a first‑line‑of‑defense framework.
    • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced, client‑focused environment.

  • Hours per Week: 40 hours

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range: $173,000 – $218,000 per year plus an annual discretionary bonus.
