Role Overview

This new role will primarily be responsible for Variable Annuity model validation and transaction review projects, providing opportunities to work across Finance, Corporate Development, and external actuarial service providers. The role reports to the lead of the model validation projects within the Capital Management and Modeling team in the Finance function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed review of Variable Annuity actuarial models, including product features, assumptions, and scenarios in partnership with external actuarial outsourcing services providers.
  • Validate annual assumption/model changes made to the model.
  • Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on key metrics and detailed Unit Testing on a policy basis to validate implementation of changes.
  • Document modeling changes and testing for audit trails and approval processes under the model risk framework.
  • Summarize and present findings in a digestible format for senior audience.
  • Review work by junior model validation team members.
  • Manage day‑to‑day delegation and communication.
  • Identify and address potential modeling improvements and best practices in model set‑up.
  • Support review of products, data, actuarial assumptions, and modeling methodologies for future transaction and company initiatives.
  • Contribute to ad‑hoc projects such as statutory regulatory reserve and capital requirements, tax reforms, GAAP LDTI, and other Capital Management and Modeling team initiatives.
  • Utilize programming languages and tools (VBA, R, Python, Power BI) to effectively summarize data for technical analysis.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, or related business discipline.
  • 5–6+ years of financial, insurance industry, or actuarial experience.
  • Prior experience with variable annuity products, modeling, hedging, and/or valuation preferred.
  • Prior consulting or M&A experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent technical skills:
    Excel, databases, actuarial projection/valuation software, programming (R, Python, VBA, SQL).
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced knowledge of actuarial concepts; ability to lead/develop solutions to ad‑hoc requests or issues.
  • Solid understanding of insurance products, regulations, or insurance company structure from prior experience in roles such as pricing, modeling, valuation, risk management, in‑force management, experience studies, hedging, and detail oriented problem‑solving skills.
