The primary purpose of the Commercial Analyst is to provide financial analysis on commercial performance and margins (product/customer) as well as provide decision making support to the sales, product management, finance, and CC senior management teams.
** Sales and Profitability Analysis*
* + Analyze product, customer, and geographic sales price/volume/mix performance and trends.
+ Analyze the margin impacts and trade-offs of various business opportunities and support business decision making analysis (e.g. S&OP process, price increases, new product launches, etc.).
+ Develop and automate reports to understand the key variances in sales and understand the impacts on profitability.
+ Perform price/volume/mix analysis on monthly sales and margin.
+ Analyze margins by product and drive meetings to identify opportunities to improve overall margin performance for the business
+ Drive pricing improvement projects
+ Provide regular support to marketing and sales on product profitability and decision analysis. Build tools to help support this decision analysis.
+ Participate in SKU rationalization (ABC/XYZ analysis)
+ Develop tools to automate analysis further (e.g. Qlikview, GL Wands, Power BI) and support decision making
- ** Sales Team Performance Analysis*
* + Analyze the performance of the sales team and regional trends
- + Calculate sales commissions analysis for payout to sales team
+ Analyze and drive customer profitability and evaluate the effectiveness of sales price increases.
+ Support the S&OP process to improve forecasting and identify the financial impacts of various scenarios
** Reporting Support*
* + Participate in month end close, and other reporting cycles (3-month forecasts, budget, annual reforecasts, Long Range Plans)
+ Identify, coordinate, and execute streamlining for management pack
+ Calculate and reconcile monthly sales rebates, lead process for annual or quarterly rebate payouts
** Support Ad-hoc Requests*
* + Support ad-hoc requests that may come from the Manager of FP&A, Group Controller, Sales Directors, Territory Managers, OR any member of the CC Management Team.
- ** Education*
* + Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance with analysis experience, complementary work experience
+ MBA degree in Finance or CPA, CMA preferred
** Work Experience*
* + Minimum of 3 years of related business experience. Strong emphasis should be put on experience in these areas: analysis of product profitability evaluations; contribution margin studies; development of financial models to assess, among other things, cost/volume/profit relationships
+ Superior data management and modeling skills required. Experienced user of Microsoft Windows software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). SAP and G/L Wands, Qlik View and other BI Tools, and financial consolidation systems experience preferred.
+ Experience in budgeting and forecasting
+ Agile and innovative mindset
+ Independent and autonomous
+ Strong team player
+ Experience working with SAP is desired. Ability to work in a dynamic environment, demonstrating a mature and organized approach to the workload
+ Integrity and transparency
+ Rigor and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy of data
+ Agility and capacity to quickly and effectively respond to ad hoc requests
+ Ability to summarize analysis concisely, and present it in an understandable format to non-financial people
+ Strong communication skills (oral and written) are essential. The successful individual must also be able to interact well with senior management, sales and marketing teams, and others in all functions.
+ Previous experience (minimum 3 years) analyzing financial performance, preferably on the commercial side
+ An advanced level of proficiency in Excel is required
+ Understand the computation and analysis of cash flow and return on investments (e.g. for new product launches).
+ Proven experience of increasing responsibility in Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, or Financial Analysis.
+ Accuracy and attention to detail is also required as this position will be looking at a great deal of information from various sources small dollar items must be investigated and understood.
